Oocyte Morphology Atlas

OocyteMorphologyAtlas

Oocyte, Egg Cell or Ovum. The most enigmatic cell of the human body. Possessed only by a female. Gentle yet most powerful, an Oocyte contains every ingredient to start LIFE, just needs a little spark to initiate the beginning of Life as we know it.

Presenting a series of images that we see everyday under our Microscope within the IVF Lab.

This is a humble attempt to capture the different oocyte morphologies seen under an Inverted Microscope right before performing ICSI in our IVF Lab. Every oocyte looks different with subtle morphological differences.

We have tried to identify some of the morphological features and label them so that Embryologists’ worldwide, especially the newbies can refer to the atlas while reporting oocyte morphologies within their Embryology Record Sheet.

If you encounter a rare oocyte morphology and wish to submit your image to us, please whatsApp us using the button below. We will be happy to include your image in our Atlas.
